Who may be a suitable candidate for Facial Fat Graft?
August 22, 2026
A facial fat graft is a surgical procedure that uses the patient’s own fat to restore natural volume to the cheeks, temples, or under-eye area, improving facial harmony without synthetic fillers.
INDICATIONS
A facial fat graft may be suitable for patients who:
- Notice hollowing of the cheeks or temples with age or after significant weight loss.
- Want to improve facial fullness with a natural look rather than temporary fillers.
- Have enough donor fat that can be safely harvested from another body area.
- Are seeking a longer-lasting result compared with resorbable fillers.
- Are in good general health and maintain a reasonably stable weight.
- Understand that some transferred fat may be absorbed and that the final result develops gradually.Liposuction
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The procedure may not be appropriate, or may need to be postponed, when:
- Very low body fat limits the amount of donor fat available for transfer.
- Weight is unstable or significant weight change is planned soon.
- Uncontrolled medical conditions, bleeding disorders, or healing concerns increase surgical risk.
- The patient smokes and cannot follow cessation requirements before surgery.
- There are unexplained lumps, cysts, or changes in the donor or injection areas.
- Expectations do not account for partial fat absorption or a possible additional session.Liposuction
