ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

A 360 body lift, also known as belt lipectomy, differs from a traditional tummy tuck because it treats more than the front of the abdomen. The procedure addresses the full circumference of the waist: the abdomen, flanks, lower back, and buttocks. It is therefore commonly considered for patients with circumferential skin laxity after substantial weight loss.

The aim is to remove excess skin and fat while tightening the tissues around the waist, improving abdominal shape and lifting the lower back and buttock area in one surgical plan. It is not a weight-loss procedure; it is a body reshaping operation considered once weight has stabilized and the patient is medically ready.

  • Treats the abdomen, flanks, lower back, and buttocks in one procedure
  • Removes loose skin after major weight loss
  • Lifts and tightens the buttock and lower-back area
  • Reshapes the waistline for more balanced body proportions

INDICATIONS

Have pronounced loose skin around the waist from the front, sides, and back.
Have experienced substantial weight loss, whether after bariatric surgery or lifestyle-related weight reduction.
Have excess skin in the abdomen, flanks, and lower back with buttock descent or flattening.
Have persistent side fullness or laxity despite stable weight.
Are in stable general health and at a stable weight appropriate for major surgery.
Understand that the procedure creates a long circumferential scar that can be planned to sit within the underwear or swimwear line, and that recovery requires commitment.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Weight is unstable or significant additional weight loss is expected.
BMI remains high enough that weight reduction should be addressed first for safer surgery and better results.
Pregnancy is planned soon, as it can affect the abdominal wall, skin, and surgical outcome.
Uncontrolled chronic illness, bleeding disorders, or heart and respiratory conditions increase the risk of a long operation.
The patient smokes and cannot follow preoperative and postoperative cessation requirements.
Expectations are unrealistic regarding scars, recovery, or the limits of correction after major weight loss.

HOW THE PROCEDURE WORKS

[ 05 ]

Assessment and planning

The process begins with assessment of skin laxity around the abdomen, flanks, lower back, and buttocks, as well as skin quality, fat distribution, abdominal muscle condition, and long-term weight stability. A circumferential incision line is carefully planned to be concealed as much as possible within underwear or swimwear.

During surgery

  • The procedure is performed under general anaesthesia.
  • Surgery commonly begins from the back, where excess tissue is removed from the lower back and buttock area and the tissues are tightened to improve buttock lift.
  • The abdomen and flanks are then addressed, with removal of excess skin and fat and abdominal muscle tightening when separation or weakness is present.
  • The belly button may be repositioned when needed, and limited liposuction may be used to refine selected areas.
  • Incisions are closed with fine sutures; drains may be used, and compression garments are applied to support healing tissues.

After surgery

  • Recovery is more extensive than after an abdominal procedure alone because of the broader treatment area.
  • Compression garments are worn for several weeks according to the postoperative plan, and a short hospital stay may be needed.
  • Gentle walking begins early under medical guidance, while pressure on incisions, heavy lifting, and strenuous activity are avoided.
  • Close follow-up monitors wound healing, drains if used, swelling, and the progressive development of body contour.

RESULT

Improvement in waistline contour, abdominal shape, and buttock position is visible after surgery, but normal swelling means the final result develops gradually. As the tissues settle over the following months, the body becomes more supported and the relationship between the abdomen, waist, back, and buttocks becomes more defined.

The objective is a more comfortable, balanced body contour after weight loss, with a natural appearance that supports confidence in clothing. Weight stability, good nutrition, and strict adherence to recovery guidance are essential for supporting long-term results.

  • Comprehensive improvement around the waistline from front to back
  • Flatter abdomen with improved buttock lift and lower-back contour
  • Progressive refinement as swelling subsides
  • Stable weight supports long-term maintenance
