When may 360 Body Lift not be suitable?
August 22, 2026
A 360 body lift is a comprehensive surgical procedure designed to address loose skin and tissue laxity around the entire waistline — abdomen, flanks, lower back, and buttocks — for a more balanced body contour after major weight loss.
CONTRAINDICATIONS
The procedure may not be appropriate, or may need to be postponed, when:
- Weight is unstable or significant additional weight loss is expected.
- BMI remains high enough that weight reduction should be addressed first for safer surgery and better results.
- Pregnancy is planned soon, as it can affect the abdominal wall, skin, and surgical outcome.
- Uncontrolled chronic illness, bleeding disorders, or heart and respiratory conditions increase the risk of a long operation.
- The patient smokes and cannot follow preoperative and postoperative cessation requirements.
- Expectations are unrealistic regarding scars, recovery, or the limits of correction after major weight loss.
INDICATIONS
A 360 body lift may be suitable for patients who:
- Have pronounced loose skin around the waist from the front, sides, and back.
- Have experienced substantial weight loss, whether after bariatric surgery or lifestyle-related weight reduction.
- Have excess skin in the abdomen, flanks, and lower back with buttock descent or flattening.
- Have persistent side fullness or laxity despite stable weight.
- Are in stable general health and at a stable weight appropriate for major surgery.
- Understand that the procedure creates a long circumferential scar that can be planned to sit within the underwear or swimwear line, and that recovery requires commitment.
