Buttock Lift: what to expect before, during and after the procedure

August 22, 2026

A buttock lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and tightens loose tissue to improve buttock shape and elevation after weight loss or skin laxity, without relying on added volume.

ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

A buttock lift is designed to address skin laxity and loss of definition in the buttock area, rather than to enlarge the buttocks. When the skin loses elasticity or the tissues descend after major weight loss, the buttocks may appear flat or sagging even at a stable, healthy weight.

The procedure removes excess skin and fat and tightens the remaining tissues to lift the contour and improve the transition between the lower back, buttocks, and thighs. In selected cases, limited liposuction may refine the surrounding contour, but the primary objective is skin tightening and reshaping — not adding buttock volume.

  • Lifts sagging buttock tissue and improves shape
  • Removes excess skin and fat from the buttock area
  • Improves the transition between lower back, buttocks, and thighs
  • Designed for lifting and reshaping, not volume enhancement

After surgery

  • Swelling, bruising, and tightness are expected during the first days.
  • Sleeping on the stomach or side is commonly recommended to avoid direct pressure on the surgical area.
  • Compression garments are worn as directed, and a special cushion may be needed when sitting during early recovery.
  • Gentle activity resumes gradually, while intense exercise and heavy lifting are postponed until medically cleared.
  • Follow-up visits monitor wound healing, drains when used, contour settling, and scar maturation.
