What is Arm Lift (Brachioplasty)? A patient-friendly guide to the procedure
August 22, 2026
An arm lift is a surgical procedure that removes excess skin and fat from the upper arms, from the underarm to the elbow, creating smoother and more defined arm contours after weight loss or skin laxity.
ABOUT THE PROCEDURE
An arm lift, also known as brachioplasty, addresses loose upper-arm skin that cannot be corrected with exercise or liposuction alone when skin elasticity is limited. This laxity may develop after major weight loss, with ageing, or because of individual skin characteristics.
The treatment plan depends on the amount and location of excess skin. Some patients need a limited lift concealed within the underarm, while skin laxity extending from the underarm to the elbow may require a full arm lift with a longer inner-arm scar. The aim is to improve arm contour while placing scars as discreetly as anatomy allows.
- Removes loose skin and excess tissue from the upper arms
- Improves arm contour from the underarm to the elbow
- Treats skin laxity after weight loss or reduced skin elasticity
- Technique is selected according to the degree of laxity and excess skin
