ABOUT THE PROCEDURE

A lower body lift addresses loose skin that extends around the lower abdomen, flanks, lower back, and buttocks, and may also improve the appearance of the upper thighs indirectly. The goal is to reshape the lower body as one connected contour rather than treating a single area without considering its relationship to the waist, buttocks, and thighs.

  • Tightens the lower abdomen, waist, flanks, and lower back
  • Improves buttock contour and lifts loose tissue
  • Addresses skin laxity after major weight loss
  • Enhances harmony between waist, buttocks, and upper thighs

INDICATIONS

Have visible loose skin in the lower abdomen, flanks, lower back, and buttocks.
Have lost a large amount of weight and have excess skin around the lower body.
Notice buttock descent or flattening with loose skin around the waist.
Experience friction, heaviness, or difficulty dressing because of excess skin.
Maintain a stable weight and are in good general health for surgery.
Understand that the scar extends around the lower body and can be planned to sit within underwear or swimwear lines.

CONTRAINDICATIONS

Weight is still unstable or significant additional weight loss is planned.
Pregnancy is planned soon and may affect the abdominal wall, skin, and result.
BMI is high enough that weight reduction should be addressed first.
Uncontrolled medical conditions, bleeding disorders, or significant heart and respiratory concerns are present.
The patient smokes and cannot follow cessation instructions before and after surgery.
Expectations are unrealistic regarding scars, recovery time, or the ability to perfect every body area in one procedure.

HOW THE PROCEDURE WORKS

[ 05 ]

Assessment and planning

The lower abdomen, waist, flanks, lower back, buttocks, and upper thighs are assessed to determine the degree of laxity and excess skin. Weight stability, skin elasticity, and general medical health are reviewed, and the incision line is planned to be as discreet as possible under underwear.

During surgery

  • The procedure is generally performed under general anaesthesia.
  • Surgery may begin from the back and buttocks, where excess tissue is removed and tissues are tightened to improve lift and contour.
  • The lower abdomen and flanks are then addressed through removal of excess skin and soft-tissue tightening as needed.
  • Abdominal muscles may be tightened if there is weakness or separation suitable for repair.
  • Limited liposuction may be used to refine selected areas when appropriate.
  • Incisions are closed carefully, and drains and compression garments may be used during early healing.

After surgery

  • Recovery requires an organized plan, including compression garments and regular follow-up.
  • Gentle walking is encouraged gradually, while pressure on the incisions and strenuous physical effort are avoided.
  • Bruising and swelling may persist for several weeks before the new body lines become clearer.
  • Heavy lifting and intense exercise are postponed until medical clearance is given.

RESULT

An early improvement in lower-body tightness and the contour of the waist and buttocks is visible after surgery, but the final result develops gradually as swelling decreases and tissues settle. Over the following months, the lower body becomes firmer and more balanced, with a noticeable improvement in clothing fit and comfort.

The goal is to reshape the lower body after weight loss or severe skin laxity — not to create weight loss or an artificial appearance. Stable weight, good nutrition, and commitment to recovery are essential for maintaining the result over time.

  • Tightening and improved proportion of the lower abdomen, waist, and buttocks
  • Progressive refinement of lower-body contour
  • Extended scar designed to be concealed within underwear lines
  • Weight stability supports long-term results
